The 2022 Guide to Christmas and Advent at the Basilica

As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of our Savior, we invite you to be a part of the special events here at the Basilica! Hear the festive melodies of the season in our Christmas Concert and Choral Meditations on the Nativity, volunteer to help those in need, or join us for Mass throughout Advent and Christmas. Mass and Vespers – Each Sunday of Advent

As we anticipate the birth of the Messiah, join us in person or online for Mass, livestreamed each Sunday of Advent beginning November 27, at 12:00 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. in Spanish.

Haitian Catholic Community Pilgrimage

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, the Haitian Catholic Community is invited to participate in the Annual Haitian Catholic Community Pilgrimage.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will provide meals for hundreds of poor, homeless, and elderly individuals living in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas on Christmas Day. Meals will be available for pick-up or delivery only. To request a Christmas Day dinner, please call 202-526-8300. All meal requests must be received by Friday, December 16th.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception invites you to join us in celebrating our Patronal Feast Day, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Be part of the celebration in person or watch the Mass livestreamed at noon from nationalshrine.org/mass.

Archdiocese of Washington Walk with Mary Pilgrimage in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe – December 10

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, the Faithful of the Archdiocese of Washington will hold their annual Walk with Mary procession and Mass to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. All are welcome to join.

Choir in Crypt Church Choir of the Basilica Christmas Concert 2022 – December 17

The Choir of the Basilica will offer a one-hour Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m, in the Crypt Church of the National Shrine. The Christmas Concert is free and open to the public. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis with no ticketing, advanced registration, or reservations. All are welcome to attend!

Blessing of the Bambinelli – December 18

Following in the Papal tradition in Saint Peter’s Square, the National Shrine will host its annual Blessing of the Bambinelli on Sunday, December 18, 2022, following the 4:30 p.m. Mass. The faithful are invited to bring the Baby Jesus from their Nativity scenes to be blessed at the National Shrine on this Fourth Sunday of Advent and the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
