Parking at the Basilica:
There are two designated parking areas at the Basilica, where parking is free and available during hours of operation.
Parking Option 1: The primary visitor parking lot is located directly to the left of the Basilica, next to the Rosary Garden. The lot can be accessed via Harewood Rd NE, just north of Michigan Ave NE. You’ll see a sign at the entrance that reads: “National Shrine Parking: Visitors.”
Parking Option 2: When arriving at the main entrance to the Basilica via Michigan Ave NE, there are a limited number of parking spaces available to the right, adjacent to the east side of the building.
Public Transit Information:
The Basilica is located less than 0.5 mi from the Brookland-Catholic University stop on Washington Metro’s Red Line. Visitors can exit to John McCormack Rd NE & Michigan Ave NE and walk 5-10 minutes via Michigan Ave NE to the Basilica.
Accessibility & Map
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is wheelchair accessible.
Disability parking is available in designated areas in the East parking lot alongside the Basilica and in the Basilica’s West parking lot across Harewood Road.
A limited number of wheelchairs are available on site, on a first come, first served basis.
The Basilica provides Sign Language Interpretation for its Solemn Mass at 12 noon on Sundays and on other select Solemnities.
