Veneration of a Relic of Saint Carlo Acutis

September 7

Image of Carlo Acutis

On Sunday, September 7, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will celebrate Mass and preside over the canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis. In unity with the Holy Father and celebrating this joyous day in the life of the Church, the Basilica of the National Shrine will have on display in the Great Upper Church a first-class relic of Saint Carlo Acutis. The relic will be on display throughout the day, including during the Basilica’s Sunday Masses. The relic and a photo of Saint Carlo will be on display in the Lower Sanctuary. It will be situated beneath the great Trinity Dome where a procession of 18 saints gives visual witness to the presence of the saints and their closeness to the Holy Trinity. On this day in particular, we are reminded of their intercession, and that of Saint Carlo. May these two new saints of the Church pray for us!
