Lenten Reflection: “And You Shall Call Him Jesus” – St. Joseph and the Name That Saves
March 19 @ 5:15 pm

The season of Lent is a time to reflect on the solemnity of the Lord’s sacrifice and prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter.
This year, we invite you to join the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for our Lenten Retreat, a series of reflections entitled, “Loved by Jesus, Loving like Jesus,” offered by Fr. Sebastian White, O.P.
The next talk in this series will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, immediately following the 5:15 p.m. Mass in the Crypt Church. In this reflection, Fr. Sebastian will discuss St. Joseph and the name that saves.
About the Speaker:
Father Sebastian White, O.P. grew up in Maine. Though he was baptized as a Catholic as an infant, his family soon became involved in a Protestant church. After graduating from college, he returned to the Catholic Church. Father Sebastian then went on to study theology at the International Theological Institute in Gaming, Austria. After graduating with a Master’s degree, he was hired to work for Franciscan University’s study abroad program, also located there. He entered the Dominican Order (Province of St. Joseph) in 2008 and was ordained a priest in 2014, when he began serving as chaplain at New York University. In 2018, he became editor-in-chief of the monthly prayer devotional, Magnificat. In 2022, he was appointed student master at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., where he also continues in his role at Magnificat.
