Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

We invite you to join us in celebrating the Patronal feast day of the Basilica and of the United States of America, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. The Solemn Mass of the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated at 12:10 p.m. in the Great Upper Church.

Special Plenary Indulgence

The faithful who are able to devoutly visit the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and who, while within this church, participate in any sacred rite or at least recite the Lord’s Prayer and the Profession of Faith, may obtain a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, and offer a prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father).
