Dr. Woosug Kang

Dr. Woosug Kang

Dr. Woosug Kang enjoys a dynamic career as a concert organist, a conductor and a church musician. Dr. Kang has performed throughout the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia as a solo recitalist in various venues. Dr. Kang received his Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music and earned his Master of Music degree at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music in organ performance while winning multiple scholarships and prizes.

He currently serves as the Director of Music Ministries for St. George’s Episcopal Church, Nashville, USA, where he leads the nationally recognized Anglican sacred music program. Since moving to Nashville, he led a successful organ search and installation project, which resulted in a new Buzard organ Op. 48 chosen and built at St. George’s Episcopal Church under his leadership. He is passionate about training young musicians, and he initiated the organ scholar program in 2017 and 2018 at St. George’s. Notably, he led the partnership between St. George’s and Association of Anglican Church Musician in 2023 for Gerre Hancock Music Intern to be trained at St. George’s. He also partnered with AGO and brought the AGO Organ scholar for 2024-2025 season to St. George’s. He is responsible for the training of organ scholars through St. George’s as well as training of choristers through Royal School of Church Music Curriculum at St. George’s, and led these young singers to residencies in the UK notably, Ely Cathedral and Canterbury Cathedral in the past.
