2025 Summer Organ Recital Series: Andrew Meagher

Join the Basilica for the fourth performance of the 2025 Summer Organ Recital Series on July 27 at 6:00 p.m. ET in the Great Upper Church. We welcome Andrew Meagher of Jefferson City, Missouri, who will perform.

Dr. Andrew Meagher

Headshot of Andrew Meagher Dr. Andrew Meagher currently holds the position as Director of Sacred Music at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City, where he also leads the music for diocesan liturgies. Over the past year, Andrew has overseen the installation of the cathedral’s new Buzard pipe organ, which was dedicated by Ken Cowan on June 20th, 2025. He previously served parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit and in the Diocese of Lansing. For 17 years, Dr. Meagher held the position of Administrator for the Hill Auditorium organ schedule at the University of Michigan.

Previous recital engagements include Washington National Cathedral, National City Christian Church (Washington D.C.), St. Thomas Church (NYC), First Congregational Church (Ann Arbor, MI), Hill Auditorium (University of Michigan), First Lutheran (Duluth, MN), St. Augustine House (Oxford, MI), First United Methodist (Kalamazoo, MI), and Pease Auditorium at Eastern Michigan University. Andrew has been featured in videos for the Star Spangled Music Foundation (John Knowles Paine’s Concert Variations on the Star Spangled Banner) and the American Guild of Organists Master Series, Volume 5, honoring Marilyn Mason.

In addition to church music, Andrew also serves as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach to his wife, Katharine. The duo have given numerous recitals together, including several performances on the University of Michigan Organ Conference in venues such as Blessed Sacrament Cathedral (Detroit, MI). Andrew has also performed piano/organ parts in ensembles, including Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Dexter Community Orchestra, and orchestras and bands at the University of Michigan. In addition to orchestral repertoire, Dr. Meagher has performed in pit orchestras for musicals and operas, including Gounond’s Romeo et Juliette (University of Michigan Opera Theatre).

Andrew received the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Michigan as a student of Marilyn Mason and Robert Glasgow. He also earned the Master of Music in Organ Performance form Bowling Green State University (studies with Vernon Wolcott, organ and Robert Satterlee, Piano) and the Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano from Ithaca College (studying Piano with Phiroze Mehta and organ with Allison Evans Henry).
