Sleeping Saint Joseph Statue
The Gospel of Matthew famously recalls that St. Joseph experienced his three most important moments while asleep – first to accept his role as the earthly father of Jesus (Matt. 1:20-21); secondly, to receive a warning of the danger posed to Jesus by King Herod (Matt. 2:13); and finally, when an angel told Joseph to return to Nazareth with the Holy Family (Matt. 2:19-20).
