Special Plenary Indulgence
On this day in 1959, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception was dedicated. On the Anniversary of the Dedication of the National Shrine, a plenary indulgence may be obtained. The faithful who are able to devoutly visit the National Shrine on this day and who, while within this Church, participate in any sacred rite or at least recite the Lord’s Prayer and the Profession of Faith, may obtain a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, and offer a prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father). (Domus Ecclesiae, 9 November, 1989).
