Since joining the staff of the National Shrine in December 1998, Dr. Geraldine M. Rohling has brought both national and international attention to the artistic, architectural, and historical treasures of this great national church. She has authored several publications on the history, art, and architecture of the National Shrine. As the Archivist and Curator, Dr. Rohling is the “official memory” of the National Shrine, maintaining historic records, documents, and works of art. As Curator, she has created and designed over 50 displays and exhibits of both historic and artistic interest for the National Shrine. Dr. Rohling is also a frequent speaker, guest lecturer and curator.
This collection of essays brings to light and to life a new dimension of the National Shrine. Having dusted off the documents in the archive, Dr. Rohling went in search of each story and discovered new and often unknown and interesting facts about the National Shrine, the people who worked and worshiped here, and the place they hold in time and history.
We invite you to read the collection below.
