“A pilgrimage has a vital part to play in our life of faith, for it removes us from our homes and our daily routines and gives us time and space to encounter God more deeply… Such moments always help us to grow, for through them the Holy Spirit gently fashions us to be ever more closely conformed to the mind and the heart of Jesus Christ.” – Pope Leo XIV
As America’s preeminent Marian shrine, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is designated as a national sanctuary of prayer and pilgrimage by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. With over 80 chapels and oratories honoring the Blessed Mother, it is a destination for nearly one million visitors annually. It serves as a place where the faithful can receive the same graces and indulgences as virtually any of the great Marian shrines in the world and participate in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
We invite you to participate in the great tradition of pilgrimage and view the schedule of pilgrimages happening at the Basilica this fall below!
