As we enter a New Year, we face much that is unknown. On the horizon lays the prospect of new adventures and beginnings, new joys and sorrows, and new trials and challenges. Whether you are hopeful or uneasy, whatever chapter is now before you, we invite you to take strength from the promises of Scripture. In today’s post, reflect on 10 verses about the hope we can have in the Lord no matter what the future brings.
Our Strength Comes from the Lord

“God, my Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet swift as those of deer
and enables me to tread upon the heights.” — Habakkuk 3:19
“The Lord is God from of old,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.
He gives power to the faint,
abundant strength to the weak…
They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength,
they will soar on eagles’ wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint.” — Isaiah 40:28b-29, 31
“The Lord is my strength and my shield,
in whom my heart trusts.”— Psalm 28:7a
Our Hope is in the Lord and His Word

“What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us.” — Romans 8:35, 37
“For whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus.” — Romans 15:4-5
“The Lord’s acts of mercy are not exhausted,
his compassion is not spent;
They are renewed each morning—
great is your faithfulness!
The Lord is my portion, I tell myself,
therefore I will hope in him.” — Lamentations 3:22-24
Draw Near to God, Our Refuge and Strength
“So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds… Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.” — James 4:7-8, 10

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.” — Philippians 4:8-9
“The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
a mighty savior,
Who will rejoice over you with gladness,
and renew you in his love,
Who will sing joyfully because of you.” — Zephaniah 3:17
Our Hope is Eternal
“Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
