Online Book of Condolence for Pope Francis

As the faithful around the world mourn the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception invites you to share your prayers, comments, and memories in our Online Book of Condolence. A Pope of the people, Pope Francis inspired millions with his humility, compassion, and tireless devotion. As the first Pontiff from the Americas, he brought fresh insight to the papacy, rooted in mercy, justice, and the embrace of the marginalized.

In tribute to his extraordinary life and ministry, Monsignor Walter Rossi, Rector of the Basilica, shared: “We give thanks to God for his 55 years as a priest, his 32 years as a bishop, and 12 years as Pope. A life of service to the Church and to God’s people, we remember him and strive to ‘go out to proclaim the merciful embrace of the Father’ as he urged in his 2015 homily at the Basilica. May he rest in peace and Our Lady usher him into the presence of her Son.”

I'm very sad that Pope Francis passed away. All of the Roman Catholics, his relatives, and the political leaders who knew him have my very sincere condolences. I did watch the funeral and the funeral procession, and I'm grateful that Pres. Trump and Melania, his wife, attended the funeral. Pope Francis will be resurrected at the Second Coming of Christ. I will revert to Catholicism on July 6 this year-good Lord willing. I converted in April 1992. Thank you, Pope Francis, for caring so much for the poor and the needy and for the members of the Roman Catholic Church.

As you go to Tir Nan Og (pronounced Tier nan Og),
We know that Tir Nan Og is the Place of the Blessed
Where there is no pain, no sorrow, only great joy.
Weep but briefly, for by now, your loved one has obtained a pleasure that is unobtainable on this earthly realm, for by now, Francis has seen the face of God. He is at peace. We shall meet again when we join him in Tir n’an Og, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
May his memory always be a blessing.

I have lived through Pope Pius XII , John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, FRANCIS.
I know they all served the Church with their best natural talents and abilities and most especially their commitment and love for God's People. There something that always touched me and love about Pope Francis.
I am sure that the saints in heaven were glad when he arrived to his final journey, and received him with shouts of joy. May he continue to be an inspiration for all of us, to be people of HOPE, and justice, and love especially for those more vulnerable. May he intercede for the new successor of Peter. May he be intercede for his beloved CHURCH.

Light a Candle for the Repose of the Soul of Pope Francis

As we mourn the passing of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis, we invite you to honor his life, legacy and unwavering devotion to Christ by lighting a candle at Mary’s Shrine. Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis led the faithful with a heart of compassion, welcoming the marginalized and underprivileged with open arms. Your candle, lit in prayerful remembrance, will burn alongside hundreds of others in chapels and oratories throughout the upper and lower Church of the National Shrine.
