SUMMARY:2023 Summer Organ Recital Series – Todd Fickley
DESCRIPTION:Join the Basilica for the fifth performance in our 2023 Summer Organ Recital Series on July 30 at 6:00 PM in the Great Upper Church. Todd Fickley of Washington\, D.C. will perform. \nTodd Fickley\nTodd Fickley is the Organist of National Presbyterian Church and founder of “The Bach Project.” He is the long-time protégé of the late Bach expert Dr. J. Reilly Lewis\, having served as his Artistic Assistant at both the Washington Bach Consort and the Cathedral Choral Society. He is also the Associate Director and Keyboard Artist for The Choralis Foundation. \nEqually comfortable at the podium\, harpsichord\, piano\, and organ\, his career spans over 25 years performing across the United States\, Europe\, and Israel. He is frequently seen in concert with a wide variety of ensembles\, such as the National Symphony Orchestra\, The Washington Ballet\, the National Philharmonic\, and the Three Notch’d Road baroque ensemble. \nA native Washingtonian\, Mr. Fickley began his organ studies at the Washington National Cathedral under Bruce Neswick. At the age of 23\, Mr. Fickley was made a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists (AGO). He also holds the AGO Choirmaster Diploma as well as the M.A. in Organ Performance with High Distinction from the University of Wales. \nA prize-winning organist and specialist in the music of J.S. Bach\, Mr. Fickley has been featured numerous times on NPR and PRI. In 2014 he launched “The Bach Project\,” a cycle of concerts performing and recording all of Bach’s organ works\, the first time in almost a quarter of a century that such a project has been undertaken in the D.C. area. The first volume on the MSR Classics label was praised in Fanfare Magazine as “some of the most enthralling Bach organ playing you are likely to hear anywhere by anyone.” The Project has taken him to Germany in 2015 and 2018 researching and performing on historic organs. \nMr. Fickley is frequently seen as conductor\, soloist\, accompanist and lecturer in the Washington\, D.C. metro area. He is an Officer in the Order of St. John and a member of the National Society of Washington Family Descendants.

Alexander Straus-Fausto of Ontario\, Canada will perform. \nAlexander Straus-Fausto\nAlexander Richard Straus-Fausto is known for his exhilarating and innovative organ performances. Alexander is currently a candidate for Master of Music in Organ Performance at Yale University\, Institute of Sacred Music\, studying under Professor Martin Jean. Alexander is a graduate of McGill University\, Schulich School of Music\, class of 2022. His former organ teachers are Jonathan Oldengarm\, Hans-Ola Ericsson\, Christian Lane\, Thomas Bara\, Dr. Peter Nikiforuk\, and Joe Carere. Alexander has a broad repertoire of music\, dating from early fifteenth-century keyboard music to contemporary organ music. Alexander is a member of The Diapason’s “20 under 30 Class of 2023\,” which recognizes young artists under the age of 30 who have made significant contributions to the fields of organ performance\, harpsichord\, and church music. \nAlexander serves as the Director of Music for the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale\, which has a semi-professional choir. As well\, he is Director of Music at Holy Advent Episcopal Church in Clinton\, CT. At Yale\, Alexander also teaches secondary organ. From 2019-2022\, Alexander was Titular Organist in Residence at Église du Très-Saint-Nom-de-Jésus in Montreal\, presiding over a landmark Casavant organ of 120 ranks and approximately 7000 pipes\, said by some to be one of the finest and largest in the nation. As of September 2019\, he was also accompanist for the McGill University Chorus. \nThrough the assistance of a Canada Council for the Arts Grant\, he completed a recital tour in the summer of 2019\, performing in major Churches and Cathedrals in Great Britain. He has been privileged to perform in several esteemed venues\, including Woolsey Hall at Yale (New Haven\, CT)\, Washington National Cathedral (Washington\, D.C.)\, Trinity Church Wall St. (New York\, NY)\, Maison Symphonique (Montreal\, QC)\, The Cathedral Church of St. James (Toronto\, ON)\, Kings Lynn Minster/St. Margaret’s Church (Norfolk\, UK)\, St. Edmundsbury Cathedral (Bury St. Edmunds\, UK)\, Great St. Mary’s (Cambridge\, UK)\, St. Paul’s Bloor Street (Toronto\, ON) and Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica (Quebec\, QC). \nBorn in 2000\, Alexander began his musical studies at age four on piano\, started improvising on the organ at age eight\, and began organ lessons at age fourteen. Since then\, he has participated in lessons with today’s most influential organ teachers. Alexander is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Basilica for the third performance in our 2023 Summer Organ Recital Series on July 16 at 6:00 PM in the Great Upper Church. Dr. Peter Latona of Washington\, D.C. will perform. \nPeter Latona\nPeter Latona (b.1968) is the Music Director for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington\, D.C.\, the preeminent Marian shrine of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. Recognized as a conductor\, composer\, organist\, improviser and teacher\, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard in sacred music within the context of the Roman Catholic Liturgy. \nAn award-winning organist\, Dr. Latona has performed throughout the United States\, Europe and the Holy Land\, has presented workshops on improvisation\, and has released a recording\, An Organ Pilgrimage\, on the Raven label\, featuring all four pipe organs at the Basilica. In 2012\, he performed to an audience of one thousand\, having been invited as a featured artist for the Festspiele Europaische Wochen in Passau\, Germany. As the conductor of the Choir of the Basilica\, he has released numerous recordings of sacred choral music\, presented concerts in the United States and abroad\, performing nationally for the American Guild of Organists\, National Pastoral Musicians Association\, Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedrals\, Church Music Association of America and internationally as a featured conductor in the Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra. Among his recently completed recording projects are Tu es Petrus: A Papal Tribute in Music\, which commemorates the Papacy of Pope Benedict XVI and celebrates the Petrine ministry of Pope Francis\, and Te Deum: The Sacred Music of Peter Latona\, which was commissioned by the Knights of Columbus and features many of the works composed by Dr. Latona for the National Shrine. \nDr. Latona’s compositions are published by Morningstar Music Publishers as well as Canticanova Publications and G.I.A. His music has been featured in various media productions including Fr. Barron’s well-known series Catholicism. He recently won first prize in a composition competition sponsored by the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians for his Priests of God/Servants of God and Go into All the World. He has received commissions from the Knights of Columbus\, Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston\, the Diocese of Helena\, as well as by the Archdioceses of Washington\, New York and Philadelphia. His music was performed during the Apostolic visit of His Holiness Benedict XVI to the United States in 2008 and in each city visited by Pope Francis during his 2015 Apostolic visit to the United States. In recognition of this accomplishment\, Dr. Latona was awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal by Pope Francis. Dr. Latona also serves on the composition faculty of The Catholic University of America Benjamin T. Rome School of Music. Dr. Latona is a graduate of Bucknell University (B. DESCRIPTION:Join the Basilica for the second performance in our 2023 Summer Organ Recital Series on July 9 at 6:00 PM in the Great Upper Church. Stefan Donner of Vienna\, Austria will perform. \nStefan Donner\nStefan Donner earned degrees with highest honors from the University of Music in Vienna\, Austria\, where he studied organ\, piano\, and conducting. He received his Master’s degree in organ performance from the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Additionally\, Stefan has participated in master classes with Olivier Latry\, Joris Verdin\, and Edoardo Bellotti. He notably received a 2014-15 Fulbright Scholarship to study organ and harpsichord at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester\, New York. \nStefan is the recipient of various awards\, including First Prize in the 2010 Franz-Schmidt-Organ Competition (Austria) and Third Prize in the 2011 Dublin International Organ Competition. Besides various radio and television recordings\, Stefan has recorded CDs on the 1741 Dacci organ of St. Salvator in Vienna and on the 1862 Buckow organ in the musical instruments collection of the Vienna Museum of Technology. These albums notably document his artistic proficiency as a concert organist. Stefan has performed extensively in Europe\, Turkey\, Israel\, the USA and Australia. In 2017 he was invited to lecture on J. S. Bach’s organ Trio Sonatas at the Władysław Żeleński Secondary School of Music in Krakow\, Poland. \nMr. Donner was previously Interim Director of Music and Organist at Klosterneuburg Abbey (near Vienna) from 2020 to 2021. Beside his busy concert schedule\, Mr. Donner currently teaches piano and music theory at two schools and works as an accompanist.

Andrew Vu of Washington\, D.C. will perform. \nAndrew Vu\nAndrew Vu serves as Assistant Director of Music of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. A native of Vietnam\, he came to the United States at the age of thirteen to study piano and musicianship with Molly and Charles Stier. He completed his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from The Catholic University of America\, where he studied under James Litzelman. His organ instructors include Jeffrey Pannebaker\, Ed Moore\, and Ronald Stolk\, with whom he completed a Master of Music degree in 2017. Andrew also studied choral conducting with Leo Nestor and Timothy McDonnell and voice with Rick Christman.\nAn award-winning pianist\, Andrew received the Honor Prize of the 2007 Maryland MCMTA Competition\, the 2012 Benjamin T. Rome School of Music Performance Award from The Catholic University of America\, and the Second Place in the 2012 Stravinsky Award Bach Competition. He has been a student assistant for the annual Washington International Piano Festival at The Catholic University of America. As an organist\, Andrew served at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Bethesda\, Maryland and St. Peter’s Parish in Olney\, Maryland for ten years. In addition\, Andrew was the Music Director at the American University Catholic Chaplaincy.

Michael Hey\, Associate Director of Music and Organist at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York\, will perform. \nMichael Hey\nDescribed as “flashy” and “exciting” (The American Organist)\, concert organist Michael Hey has been increasingly visible on U.S. and international concert stages. Michael has performed solo organ recitals at Lincoln Center (New York)\, the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia)\, the Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.) and Davies Hall (San Francisco). He graduated in 2014 from The Juilliard School where he received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in organ performance under Paul Jacobs. Within one year of his graduation\, he was appointed Associate Director of Music and Organist of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City\, where one of his first major tasks was to play organ for Vespers and Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Madison Square Garden for the first U.S. visit of Pope Francis. In September 2017\, Michael received first prize in the First Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Organ Competition. In 2019\, he performed solo recitals for the NYCAGO and two regional conventions for the American Guild of Organists. He also performs duo recitals with violinist Christiana Liberis.

She continued her studies at Michigan State University with Corliss Arnold\, University of Michigan with James Kibbie\, and The Juilliard School with Leonard Raver\, organist with the New York Philharmonic. She currently studies with composer/organist Paul Leavitt. She has worked with brass musicians extensively\, performing several concerts with Chuck Seipp\, former trumpet soloist with The U.S. Army Band. Venues have included National City Christian Church in Washington\, D.C.\, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Washington\, D.C. and St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Clifton\, VA. \nIn 2017\, she performed with trumpeter Phillip Snedecor of the Hartt School of Music at Grace Church in New York City\, NY. She has also presented concerts with A. Scott Wood of the Amadeus Concerts at National Presbyterian Church in Washington\, D.C.; The Brass of Peace under the direction of Sylvia Alimena at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land\, and under their founder Gilbert H. Mitchell at The National Cathedral; and a recital with Jeffrey Work\, Principal Trumpet of the Oregon Symphony\, at Cherrydale United Methodist Church in Arlington\, Virginia. She has performed for the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and for the combined D.C. area AGO chapters during the annual Bach Marathon at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church. She is the recipient of a 2nd place award in the Community Keyboard Division of the Boulder Bach Festival’s 2020 World Bach Competition and a Semi-Finalist award in music from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. She lives in Herndon with her husband and two children.

Monte Maxwell of Annapolis\, Maryland will perform. \nMonte Maxwell\nMonte Maxwell\, Chapel Organist\, Director of Chapel Music and the Midshipmen Symphony Orchestra\, began his service at the United States Naval Academy in 1997. \nMr. Maxwell\, a native of San Angelo\, Texas\, earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Texas Christian University\, Fort Worth\, studying with Emmet G. Smith. He was then invited to study at the Curtis Institute of Music with John Weaver where he received an Artist Diploma\, Curtis’ highest degree. Mr. Maxwell earned his Master of Music Degree from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City\, also studying with John Weaver. While studying in Philadelphia\, Mr. Maxwell was an Associate Organist at the John Wanamaker Store\, playing the famed six-manual organ\, the largest playing organ in the world. \nAt the Naval Academy\, Mr. Maxwell serves as the principal organist for the Protestant and Catholic services as well as playing for weddings\, memorial services\, funerals\, and performances throughout the year. He commands the five-manual\, 268-rank organ in the main chapel\, which has recently undergone substantial enhancement under his direction and design. His additional responsibilities include working with the Protestant and Catholic Chapel Choirs\, the Protestant Chapel Chorale\, the Men’s and Women’s Glee Clubs\, and conducting the annual winter musical theater productions as well as the Naval Academy Midshipmen Symphony Orchestra. He oversees the annual Chapel Organ Concert series which features guest performing artists from across the United States. He has also served as the Chairman of the Naval Academy Music Department and Director of Instrumental Activities. \nMr. Maxwell’s annual All Saints’ Day Organ Concert has become a staple of the Naval Academy and greater Annapolis cultural community. The standing-room-only event drew some 3\,000 people into the Naval Academy Chapel in 1998\, breaking all records in attendance for any event throughout the Chapel’s history. Due to the popularity of this event\, the Academy now offers two ticketed performances of this concert each year. He has performed in the United States\, South America\, Eastern and Western Europe\, and Canada\, and is an active member of the American Guild of Organists. Benjamin LaPrairie\, Associate Director of Music at the Basilica\, will perform. \nBenjamin LaPrairie\nBenjamin LaPrairie serves as Associate Director of Music at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington\, D.C. Since 2011\, he has assisted in the leadership of the music department and has regularly accompanied daily\, Sunday\, and other special Masses throughout the year. Notable liturgies include the Canonization Mass of Saint Junípero Serra\, celebrated by Pope Francis\, and the Funeral Mass of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. In May of 2019\, Benjamin performed with the Choir of the Basilica in concerts and liturgies in Rome for the commemoration of 35 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Holy See. Previous posts include Principal Organist at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Washington\, D.C.\, and Director of Music at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles\, Illinois. \nAs a composer\, Benjamin’s works have been performed by the Choir\, Brass\, and Orchestra of the Basilica\, and have been recorded and broadcast worldwide on EWTN\, Salt & Light Media\, and CatholicTV. His setting of Christus Vincit was premiered upon the entrance of Pope Francis into the Great Upper Church of the National Shrine in September of 2015. Recent works include a new setting of Ye Sons and Daughters for the Choir and Orchestra of the Basilica\, and a setting of Joy to the World for the choirs and orchestra of The Catholic University of America. As an organist\, Benjamin has performed throughout the United States and abroad\, and has been featured as a soloist with the Pine Mountain Music Festival\, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City\, NJ\, and at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, DC in a performance of Louis Vierne’s Messe Solennelle. Nicholas Capozzoli of Montreal\, Canada will perform. \nNicholas Capozzoli\nNicholas Capozzoli has established himself as a solo organist\, collaborative artist\, and scholar with great distinction and versatility. His artistic accomplishments have been recognized throughout North America\, garnering prizes in the Canadian International Organ Competition\, Taylor Organ Competition\, AGO/Quimby Competition for Young Organists\, and Carol Teti Memorial Organ Competition. An advocate for research into music by female and marginalized composers\, his doctoral thesis on the life and music of Claire Delbos (1906-1959) is the first study of its kind. A chapter of this paper was awarded Second Prize in the Dean’s Essay Competition at McGill University. Nicholas is a member of The Diapason’s “20 under 30 Class of 2015\,” which recognizes individuals under the age of 30 who have made significant contributions to the fields of organ\, harpsichord\, and church music. He is also featured in the critically acclaimed CBC documentary “Pipe Dreams.” \nNicholas has performed in esteemed venues including Maison Symphonique (Montreal\, QC)\, Washington National Cathedral (Washington\, DC)\, St. Paul’s Bloor Street (Toronto\, ON)\, Orgelpark (Amsterdam\, NL)\, and the Musée des Augustins (Toulouse\, France). He appears as a solo artist at major festivals and conferences\, including the 2019 Organix Festival\, 2017 AGO/RCCO Montreal Organ Festival\, 2016 Historical Keyboard Society of North America conference\, 2014 AGO National Convention\, 2014 Piccolo Spoleto Festival “L’Organo Series\,” and the 2013 NPM Convention. He has presented workshops for the 2020 AGO OrganFest\, SUNY Potsdam\, and the Binghamton AGO chapter. \nNicholas holds a Doctor of Music in Performance Studies from McGill University\, as well as degrees in historical performance and organ from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Hans-Ola Ericsson\, James David Christie\, and Webb Wiggins. While at Oberlin\, he taught secondary organ and harpsichord students and served as an instructor at two summer academies. He is the recipient of Oberlin College’s Selby Harlan Houston Prize (excellence in organ and music theory)\, Friends of the Library Excellence in Research Award\, James H. Hall Prize in Musicology\, Pi Kappa Lambda Prize for Musicianship\, and Earl L. Russell Award in Historical Performance. An avid collaborator with vocalists and instrumentalists\, Nicholas was the musical director for Oberlin’s production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He has also played with the Oberlin Baroque Orchestra\, Opera McGill\, and the Montreal choirs Musica Orbium and One Equall Musick. \nNicholas is Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral\, Montreal\, where he oversees one of Canada’s busiest liturgical music programs. Paul Hardy of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington\, D.C. will perform. \nPaul Hardy\nPaul Hardy studied organ with Dr. Robert Grogan and has been the Principal Organist of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle since 2000. While serving as organist at the cathedral\, he provided organ music for the funeral mass of the Chief Justice of the United States\, William Rehnquist\, as well as for National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski\, Senator Paul Laxalt and journalist Cokie Roberts. He was honored to accompany the Papal midday prayer at the Cathedral on the occasion of Pope Francis’s September 2015 visit to Washington. Paul was recently privileged to be organist at the early morning Inauguration Day Mass for President-Elect Joseph Biden and Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris. At that same Mass\, Paul had the honor of accompanying the esteemed award-winning soprano and world-renowned opera star\, Renée Fleming. \nPaul is a frequent recitalist on both piano and organ. He coordinates the music for the many weddings at the Cathedral and assists the musicians at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception as organist and carillonneur. Wolfe of New York City will perform. \nJohn Wolfe\nDr. John A. Wolfe is a New York City-based organist\, choral conductor and music educator. Recent performance highlights have included the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen\, CO\, the Sunday Afternoon Kilgen Organ Recital Series at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC\, the Friday Midday Music series at National City Christian Church in Washington\, DC\, and an appearance on the Naxos Records release Songs of Peace and Praise: Choral Music from Queens College.  Dr. Wolfe is a recipient of the Organ Historical Society’s E. Power Biggs Fellowship\, and has served as Dean\, Sub-Dean and Executive Board member of the American Guild of Organists Brooklyn Chapter. He is the Organist and Director of Music at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn\, NY\, where he performs on the church’s 1999 Rev. Dr. John Milton Coleman Memorial Organ by Guilbault-Thérien. \nIn January 2018\, Wolfe earned the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance at Rutgers University.  While at Rutgers he studied with Professor Renée Anne Louprette and received the university’s Drinkwater and Shaw organ scholarships\, and the Elizabeth Wyckoff Durham award for academic distinction and excellence in organ or piano performance.  He also holds a Master’s Degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College\, where he studied with Professor Walter Klauss and earned the Maynard Walker Organ Award\, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Vassar College\, where he studied with Professor Gail Archer.  While working towards his Bachelor’s Degree he additionally studied in Prague\, Czech Republic via New York University. In this position\, he has played for several high-profile civic events. \nPrior to this position\, he served on the music staffs of the Memorial Church\, Harvard University; Saint Mark’s Church in Philadelphia\, PA; and Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton\, NJ. Tom is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music\, where he received diplomas in organ and harpsichord\, studying with Alan Morrison and Leon Schelhase. He received both the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton\, NJ\, as a student of Ken Cowan. He is currently a doctoral candidate in organ at Boston University as a student of Peter Sykes. Dr. Peter Latona\, Director of Music at the Basilica\, will perform. \nPeter Latona\nPeter Latona (b. 1968) is the Director of Music for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Washington\, D.C.)\, the preeminent Marian shrine of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. Recognized as a conductor\, composer\, organist\, improviser\, and teacher\, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard in sacred music within the context of the Roman Catholic Liturgy. \nAn award-winning organist\, Dr. Latona has performed throughout the United States\, Europe\, and the Holy Land\, has presented workshops on improvisation\, and has released a recording\, An Organ Pilgrimage\, on the Raven label\, featuring all four pipe organs at the Basilica. In 2012\, he performed to an audience of one thousand\, having been invited as a featured artist for the Festspiele Europaische Wochen in Passau\, Germany. As the conductor of the Choir of the Basilica\, he released numerous recordings of sacred choral music\, presented concerts in the United States and abroad\, performed nationally for the American Guild of Organists\, the National Pastoral Musicians Association\, the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedrals\, the Church Music Association of America\, and internationally as a featured conductor in the Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra. Among his recently completed recording projects is Tu es Petrus: A Papal Tribute in Music\, which commemorates the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI and celebrates the Petrine ministry of Pope Francis\, as well as Te Deum: The Sacred Music of Peter Latona\, which was commissioned by the Knights of Columbus and features many of the works composed by Dr. Latona for the National Shrine. \nActive as a composer\, Dr. Latona is published by Morningstar Music Publishers\, as well as Canticanova Publications and G.I.A. His music has been featured in various media productions\, including Bishop Robert Barron’s well-known series Catholicism. He recently won first prize in a composition competition sponsored by the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians for his Priests of God/Servants of God and Go into All the World. He has received commissions from the Knights of Columbus\, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston\, and the Diocese of Helena\, as well as by the Archdioceses of Washington\, New York\, and Philadelphia. His music was performed during the Apostolic Visit of His Holiness Benedict XVI to the United States in 2008 and in each city visited by Pope Francis during his 2015 Apostolic Visit to the United States. In recognition of this\, Dr. Latona was awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal by Pope Francis. Andrew Vu\, Assistant Director of Music at the Basilica\, will perform. \nAndrew Vu\nAndrew Vu serves as Assistant Director of Music of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. A native of Vietnam\, he came to the United States at the age of thirteen to study piano and musicianship with Molly and Charles Stier. He completed his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from The Catholic University of America\, where he studied under James Litzelman. His organ instructors include Jeffrey Pannebaker\, Ed Moore\, and Ronald Stolk\, with whom he completed a Master of Music degree in 2017. Andrew also studied choral conducting with Leo Nestor and Timothy McDonnell and voice with Rick Christman. \nAn award-winning pianist\, Andrew received the Honor Prize of the 2007 Maryland MCMTA Competition\, the 2012 Benjamin T. Rome School of Music Performance Award from The Catholic University of America\, and the Second Place in the 2012 Stravinsky Award Bach Competition. He has been a student assistant for the annual Washington International Piano Festival at The Catholic University of America. As an organist\, Andrew served at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Bethesda\, Maryland and St. Peter’s Parish in Olney\, Maryland for ten years. The Basilica’s Director of Music\, Dr. Peter Latona\, Associate Director of Music\, Benjamin LaPrairie\, and Assistant Director of Music\, Andrew Vu will play the Möller Organs of the Upper Church and will be joined by the Brass Ensemble of the Basilica.
