SUMMARY:24 Hours for the Lord: 40 Hours Devotion Opening Mass and Closing Mass
DESCRIPTION:In observance of Pope Francis’ annual Lenten initiative “24 Hours for the Lord\,” the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will once again host 40 Hours Devotion. \nThe Basilica’s “24 Hours for the Lord: 40 Hours Devotion” Lenten observance will begin with an Opening Mass on Thursday\, March 11\, at 5:15 p.m. and conclude with a Closing Mass on Saturday\, March 13\, at 4:30 p.m. \nThe Opening Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Christophe Pierre\, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. Solemn Exposition will take place continuously\, to include overnight hours\, through the Closing Mass on Saturday\, March 13\, at 4:30 p.m.  The Closing Mass will be celebrated by Wilton Cardinal Gregory\, Archbishop of Washington.  \nThe Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available during the Basilica’s regularly scheduled hours (9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.) in the Great Upper Church.  \n\n									   \n									   \n									   \n									   \n									   \n									   \n
