SUMMARY:2022 Summer Organ Recital Series – Thomas Sheehan
DESCRIPTION:Join the Basilica for the third performance in our 2022 Summer Organ Recital Series on July 17 at 6:00 PM in the Great Upper Church. Thomas Sheehan of the National Cathedral in Washington\, D.C. will perform. \nThomas Sheehan\nThomas Sheehan is the Organist and Associate Director of Music at the National Cathedral in Washington\, D.C.\, where he is responsible for the organ program at the Cathedral\, covering both liturgical and concert expressions of organ music. In this position\, he has played for several high-profile civic events. \nPrior to this position\, he served on the music staffs of the Memorial Church\, Harvard University; Saint Mark’s Church in Philadelphia\, PA; and Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton\, NJ. Tom is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music\, where he received diplomas in organ and harpsichord\, studying with Alan Morrison and Leon Schelhase. He received both the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton\, NJ\, as a student of Ken Cowan. He is currently a doctoral candidate in organ at Boston University as a student of Peter Sykes. In 2016 he was named one of The Diapason’s “20 under 30\,” a list of rising artists in the field of organ playing.
